While in Armenia, you simply cannot miss the opportunity to visit one of the most famous attractions of the country – the beautiful Lake Sevan. Just an hour’s drive from the capital, at an altitude of 1900 m above sea level, surrounded by picturesque mountains, lies Lake Sevan. The excursion will begin with a pleasant morning workout – climbing the stairs to the Sevan Peninsula, from where an unforgettable panoramic view will open up before you. Here you will visit the Sevanavank Monastery, built by Princess Mariam in the 9th century in honor of her late husband. In Sevanavank you can also see one of the most beautiful khachkars in Armenia – the Amenaprkich (Savior) khachkar. This is one of 13 rare khachkars depicting Jesus. Then you will head north, where you can enjoy the most beautiful nature of Armenia. Passing through the city of Dilijan, we will make a stop at the Goshavank Monastery. This historic church is located in the village of Gosh, among village houses and turbulent mountain rivers. The monastery was founded by the outstanding public figure, theologian and priest Mkhitar Gosh, the author of the first code of laws. He is buried next to the church, which he himself built in 1188. Here you will also see the "embroidered" khachkar of Varpet Pavgos (Poghos), which is considered the most beautiful khachkar in Armenia.
